The study focuses on analyzing verbal and situational irony in ironical media content, with particular attention given to Al Jazeera’s program “The Stream” ("Al-Shabaka"). The research begins by outlining the conceptual framework of irony, tracing its roots, types, and functions in both Arab and Western traditions. It also introduces three major theoretical models that help interpret irony: semantic theory, pragmatic theory, and framing theory. The relationship between irony and both traditional and digital media is discussed, highlighting irony’s critical role in reflecting and questioning social and political realities. In the practical section, a selection of ironical excerpts from “The Stream” is analyzed and classified according to their nature (verbal or situational), then interpreted in light of the aforementioned theories. Suggested translations are offered for each excerpt, accompanied by a critical discussion of the challenges and limitations involved. The study concludes that translating irony goes beyond linguistic equivalence and requires deep cultural and contextual awareness. Wordplay, cultural references, and socio political allusions often pose significant barriers to preserving the original effect in the target language. Finally, the research recommends the development of theoretical tools that prioritize functional and contextual aspects in irony translation over purely linguistic onesItem إشكالية ترجمة مصطلحات رياضة الفورموال وان عبر التعليق الصوتي- ملخص جائزة أسرتاليا الكربى)قناة بيني سبورت على اليوتيوب( - منوذجا(University of Tlemcen, 2026-04-06)This study addresses the translation of coined terms in the world of motor sports, particularly Formula 1, considering the diversity of their functions and characteristics. It is an analytical and descriptive study based on an analysis of the terminology specific to Formula 1 through the lens of voice commentary from the sports channel beIN Sports. A sample of summaries from the channel available on YouTube was selected, notably the summary of the Australian Grand Prix. This choice was made due to the varied race conditions, such as rain and team strategy shifts during the competition for top positions. The study relies on a theoretical framework that combines specialized translation studies, terminology, linguistic borrowing, and media theories. It also draws on analytical models proposed by prominent translation theorists such as Peter Newmark, Ghassan Aboud, and Eugene Nida, along with recent research on audiovisual translation and sports commentary. The research concluded that translating Formula 1 voice commentary into Arabic faces multiple challenges, most notably the density of technical terms and excessive reliance on borrowing, in the absence of a unified terminology policy. The thesis recommends the localization of sports terms through collaboration between translators, commentators, and language experts, and the development of critical analysis tools that account for the specific nature of sports media discourse.Item دور التكييف السمعي البصري يف نقل الومضات الاشهارية - دراسة تحليلية مقارنة(University of Tlemcen, 2026-04-05) محمد بوحلواسAudiovisual adaptation is a delicate and sensitive translation strategy as it takes into account both the linguistic and semiotic level in line with the characteristics of the target audience and its culture.
