Abstract

This thesis focuses on the study of audiovisual translation, with emphasis on textual translation or subtitling in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It presents the definition of audiovisual translation, its types, and its importance, while highlighting the linguistic challenges faced by translators in cinematic texts, especially in fantasy works. The thesis also examines linguistic errors in translation. It offers practical recommendations to improve the quality of audiovisual translation. The thesis concludes by presenting the main findings and highlighting future research prospects in this field.
