Abstract

This theksy aims to study the translation of Mahjar poetry, taking Elia Abu Madi’s poem ”Smile” as a case study. The study highlights the definition and characteristics of the Mahjar School in poetry and discusses the challenges of translating poetic texts while preserving their original aesthetic qualities, with a focus on literary translation as a method of conveying artistic and emotional dimensions. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of balancing linguistic accuracy and creative spirit in the literary translation of Mahjar texts to faithfully and artistically convey their cultural and literary message.
