This course has provided a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles of coordination chemistry. Through the study of metal complexes, their formation, structures, bonding theories, properties, and applications, students have acquired the essential knowledge required to understand the behavior of coordination compounds in various chemical contexts. By the end of this course, students are expected to have developed a solid understanding of the key concepts of coordination chemistry, including coordination numbers, geometries, ligand types, electronic structure, and stability of metal complexes. These concepts constitute an essential foundation for further studies in inorganic chemistry and related fields such as bioinorganic chemistry, environmental chemistry, and analytical chemistry. The knowledge gained in this course enables students to analyze coordination compounds encountered in academic research, industrial applications, and environmental systems. Moreover, it prepares them for more advanced topics, including reaction mechanisms of metal complexes, catalysis, metal-based materials, and the role of coordination compounds in biological and environmental processes. In conclusion, this course aims not only to convey theoretical knowledge but also to develop students’ analytical and conceptual skills, which are crucial for their academic and professional development. The principles of coordination chemistry introduced in this manual will serve as a valuable foundation for future learning and specialization in chemistry and related scientific disciplines.
