Abstract
While individual national or regional organiza-
tions facilitate data collection, storage, manage-
ment, and utilization within their respective
countries/regions, collective efforts through com-
ing together under one umbrella organization
facilitate international cooperation and collabo-
ration. Examples of such international coopera-
tions are the International Bull Evaluation centre
(INTERBULL), the International Committee for
Animal Recording (ICAR), and the Global
Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (GASL). The
INTERBULL is based in Uppsala, Sweden. It
was set up specifically to undertake and regulate
international evaluation of dairy bulls. It special-
izes in providing international genetic evaluation
of dairy bulls across countries so that these can be
ranked on the same scale across countries. This
ranking of bulls on the same scale facilitates
across-country comparison and trade in dairy
cattle genetic resources.
