L’énigme psychologique de Quasimodo : Étude comparative de Notre-Dame de paris Et le Bossu de Notre Dame

Abstract

Ce mémoire porte sur "Notre-Dame de Paris" de Victor Hugo, publié en 1831, et le film d'animation "Le Bossu de Notre-Dame", réalisé en 1996 par les studios Disney. L'objectif de ce travail est d'explorer le processus d'adaptation et de modernisation d'un classique emblématique de la littérature française. Dans un premier temps, nous avons défini les concepts essentiels qui seront utiles pour notre étude. Ensuite, nous avons mené une analyse comparative des deux œuvres, en examinant l'intrigue, les personnages et l'espace, afin de mettre en évidence les modifications apportées par le réalisateur. Nous nous sommes également penchés sur la question des clichés et stéréotypes entourant le personnage central de Quasimodo. Enfin, nous avons approfondi l'étude de sa psychologie. Cette recherche vise à mieux comprendre comment une œuvre littéraire majeure peut être réinterprétée et adaptée dans un contexte cinématographique, ainsi que les enjeux artistiques et culturels qui y sont liés. This dissertation focuses on Victor Hugo's "Notre-Dame de Paris," published in 1831, and the animated film "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," released in 1996 by Disney studios. The aim of this study is to explore the process of adaptation and modernization of an iconic classic in French literature. Initially, we define key concepts that will be relevant to our research. Subsequently, we conduct a comparative analysis of both works, examining the plot, characters, and setting to highlight the modifications made by the filmmaker. We also delve into the subject of clichés and stereotypes surrounding the central character of Quasimodo. Lastly, we provide an in-depth exploration of his psychology. This research seeks to enhance our understanding of how a major literary work can be reinterpreted and adapted within a cinematic context, along with the artistic and cultural implications involved.
