Abstract
This study examines a four-storey reinforced concrete building intended for residential use, located in the
city of Tlemcen and classified as being in a seismic zone III. The design was carried out in accordance
with the Algerian seismic regulations RPA2024. To achieve this, we must carry out a detailed analysis to
understand the building, taking into account the various factors affecting this structure in terms of the loads
it is subjected to and other factors. In Algeria, buildings are characterised by low energy efficiency, making
them a major consumer of energy, particularly as the housing sector is not subject to strict regulations in
this area. To determine the amount of heat loss and gain, as well as the annual heating requirements of the
dwelling, we used the ‘CYBE’ calculation programme. This programme provides a description of the
dwelling and its fittings, estimates energy consumption, and verifies the dwelling’s compliance with DTR
C3.2 and DTR C3.4 standards. The factors taken into account included: heating, cooling, wall composition
and orientation, windows, local climate, and insulation. The software also provides advice and solutions
for reducing energy consumption, alongside recommendations for improving energy efficiency, enhancing
the building’s performance, and ensuring thermal comfort within the home.
