Investigating the Impact of Songs on Vocabulary Learning and Pronunciation in Primary School EFL Classrooms

Abstract

Teaching English to primary school pupils requires the implementation of a set of tools which align with their energetic nature and make the learning process fun and enjoyable. This dissertation aims at exploring the effectiveness of using songs in the EFL classrooms. It investigates the impact of songs on vocabulary acquisition and pronunciation among Algerian young EFL learners. This case study is undertaken at BENSAID Rabeh primary school with fourth year pupils. The data gathered were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The findings indicate the positive impact of songs on young learners’ vocabulary acquisition and pronunciation and ensure their effectiveness as a pedagogical tool in the primary school EFL classroom
