Abstract
The menstrual cycle and menopause are biological phenomena that demarcate the onset and end of a woman's reproductive phase.
The present investigation examines the role of oxidative stress in the menstrual cycle and menopause through an evaluation of the antioxidant-oxidant equilibrium in a cohort of healthy young females and menopausal females.
The findings of our study indicate a noteworthy elevation in pro-oxidant parameters and a considerable reduction in antioxidant markers among menopausal women in comparison to their non-menopausal counterparts. Additionally, a marked rise in oxidative stress markers was observed during the menstrual phase.
This observation may serve to corroborate the impact of oxidative stress on both the menstrual cycle and menopausal transition.
