Abstract
ct
Literature is a system of representations; it is a way to represent the author’s vision through
his/her writings by the means of language. This work deals with the representation of
dialogism and interculturality in Fadia Faqir’s The Cry of the Dove since it is a novel
where different cultures meet and different languages and voices occur. The aim behind
this study is to analyse the ways in which dialogism and interculturality are portrayed by
Fadia Faqir as an Arab Anglophone woman writer. This work addresses some questions
about the depiction of these literary techniques in the novel and to which extent can they be
interrelated, and after examining the hypotheses, the research findings shed light on the
ways in which the representation of different cultures and the multiplicity of languages and
voices create the dialogic relations in the novel. This work is divided into two chapters; the
first one deals with the theoretical part “Dialogism and Interculturality in Literature” in
which the main concepts of the title are defined in addition to the introduction of the author
‘Fadia Faqir’, whereas the second chapter provides an exemplified analysis of dialogism
and interculturality in The Cry of the Dove.
