The Influence of Digital Globalization on Language Use in Algerian Social Media: The Case of First Year Tlemcen University Students

Abstract

This thesis explores the impact of globalization on language use among Algerian students on social media, focusing on multilingual practices such as code-switching and the rise of hybrid forms like "Arabizi." Through a case study involving questionnaires and discourse analysis, the research reveals that globalization promotes linguistic blending and the integration of English alongside Arabic and French. It concludes that Algerian youth adapt their linguistic practices to global influences while preserving local identity
