Abstract
This study aims at exploring linguistic accommodation among Ghazaouet students in
Tlemcen University. This work focuses mainly on how Ghazaouet students manifest
their speech adjustments, discover the reasons behind such accommodation, and
understand students‘ attitudes towards the phenomenon of linguistic accommodation.
The findings reveal that Ghazaouet students do indeed modify their speech
particularly in university settings, with the aim of being understood, or to avoid
negative judgement. Students respond to this behaviour in diverse ways, ranging from
positive, neutral to negative.
