dc.description.abstractThe focus of this research paper is in the literary field, such a study is important to shed light on cryptography and humor in Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Gold Bug”. The research approach adopted in this work includes a literary analysis of “The Gold Bug” as an American Romantic short story. Thus, the findings from this research provide evidence that Edgar Allan Poe was not only specialized in gothic stories but he also succeeded in leaving a great impact in the reader’s mind through humor as well as he introduced himself as a cryptographer.en_US
