Abstract
The 21ST century is the age of development and innovation; it is the age of
modern technology. Technology is used in every aspect of society; it has become an
integral part of our lives. It is used to facilitate our lives and in the domain of
education it can be is used to simplify and improve the quality of teaching and
learning. Thus no one can deny the importance and the benefits of technology in the
classroom more specifically the EFL classroom. The purpose of this study is highlight
the main impact of using technology in the EFL classroom as well as the role of the
teacher in the process and how he can manage to use it effectively and correctly for
the purpose of enhancing the quality of learning. Also this work aims at finding out
how both teachers and learners view technology and how they feel about using it. In
this research work a case study was made in the Department of English at the
University of Tlemcen with 1ST year EFL students and teachers from the staff as a
sample population. 25 students and 10 teachers have contributed in this work. The
research tools consist of two questionnaires, one for the students and another for the
teachers. The findings of this study are meant to improve the EFL teaching and
learning via technology. The result of the investigation show that there are many
advantages of technology use in the EFL classroom and that both teachers and
learners support the idea of using it. Also teachers are aware of the importance of
technology as a means of instruction and they favor its use, however they face some
obstacles in the process such as the lack of technological materials and training.
