Investigating the Effects of Using Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning Speaking and Listening Skills: Case of L1 Students at Tlemcen University

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching and learning speaking and listening skills. It is divided into two parts: the theoratical part, which tackled concepts related to speaking and listening skills, and Artificial Intelligence, and a pratctical part, which tackled the methodology, data analysis and discussion of the main results. Findings reveal that AI tools enhance student engagement, improve learning outcomes, and foster a more interactive learning environment. The results also shown that most teachers and learners have a positive outlook for the use of AI in the ield of education, particularly in the teaching and learning of English oral skills. However, challenges such as over-reliance on technology and reduced human interaction were also noted. The study concludes that while AI cannot fully replace traditional teaching methods, it serves as a valuable complement to enhance educational outcomes.
