Résumé: In this work, PLA poly (lactic acid) was mixed with poly (butylene succinate) PBS to improve the thermomechanical properties of PLA. The mixture of PLA and PBS was made by melt mixing PLA / PBS mixtures with various compositions. The effect of PBS on the properties of PLA has been studied by infrared spectroscopy FTIR, rheology, DMA and DSC. Tensile testing has shown that the modulus of blends decreases with increasing PBS content that could improve ductility and make the blend soft and flexible. DSC technique showed a miscible mixture of PLA / PBS with the addition of 10 wt.% PBS, while other PBS contents exhibited phase separation in the blends. The rheological results showed that the blend 80/ 20 is the most thermally stable. The compatibility of PLA / PBS mixtures is confirmed by DSC and DMA by the increase of Tg which will improve the thermal resistance of PLA.
