The present experimental-based dissertation endeavours to empirically identify and compare the strategies employed by 3 rd year secondary-school learners in essay writing across three languages:Arabic, French, and English. On the basis of the results obtained from the data collected through three basic research tools, namely task-production, thinkaloud protocol, and interview, the researcher has suggested some alternative solutions that are hoped to alleviate the problems encountered in the skill under consideration through the explicit teaching of these strategies, whereby to enhance learners’ writing proficiency.en_US
