Abstract
The Ziban region belongs to the desert region, which began to be paid attention to in the Roman period by the Roman emperors. They intended to fortify it with a security belt represented by a continuous series of defensive centers called the limes, which represents the dividing line of the empire’s lands at its furthest extent.Which developed over time and became an independent economic-military system because it extends in the Al-Ziban region over a large area, the dimensions of which are about 220 km in length and about 60 km in width, consisting mainly of fortified cities, castles, forts and watchtowers spread over a network of spider roads that connect with each other. This region is characterized by containing agricultural lands and a dense hydrographic network that helps in agriculture and animal husbandry. This region is considered a transit area for nomads and traders between the north and south (the desert), which constitutes an important source of bringing money to the treasury through customs on various goods and merchandise.
