Abstract
By the mean of numerical simulations, we study the segregation in a particular granular system,
notably the Brazil Nut Effect. We analyse the results of a vertically vibrated cylinder filled with two
distinct granular systems. The first system is a polydisperse pile with a tracer in it, the second one is
composed of two piles with different mean sizes of their grains. Apart from an outstanding
insensitivity of the reverse of the center of masses in the second experiment to the particle-wall
friction coefficient, we clearly see that the segregation in granular media depends on the vibration
acceleration and its amplitude, the size ration of the grains, and also on the microscopic friction
parameter.
