dc.description.abstractIt has been widely agreed that a coursebook is an essential component of the ELT classroom.Generally speaking, research on coursebook selection and evaluation suggests that the process of selecting an English coursebook is a complex and multifaceted task, since it can have an enormous impact on students‟ engagement, motivation to learn, and ultimately their language performance. When evaluating a textbook, therefore, it is important to shed light on its pedagogical contribution to the teaching and learning process. The present study aims at examining the suitability of the coursebook ʻNew Prospect‟ used in third year secondary school in Algeria. Moreover, it focused on the effectiveness and ability of the coursebook in developing and helping learners and it examines according to a variety of criteria and opinions about the selected coursebook, whether it meets the learners‟needs and levels or not.For further evaluation, two questionnaires have been submitted to teachers and learners so as to gather the necessary data about the content of the coursebook. The results confirme the fact that the coursebook completely meets the teachers‟and students‟expectations and it is a reliable teaching tool for future generation.en_US
