This present work tries to investigate how language is used electronically among the young Algerian users of Internet, and if they use English or not. For doing this study, a case study was conducted at Tlemcen University: English Department relying on two main research instruments: students’ questionnaire and teachers’ interview. After collecting data from the respondents( 20 Master 1 students and 8 teachers), the results reveal that the majority of participants use English via Internet: students use it for improving language proficiency, while teachers use it for different purposes. They show positive attitudes towards this new media of interaction, however, it may lead to language shift if they use intensively abbreviations and acronyms.en_US
