The present research work is a comparative study of Arabic and English. It explores the area of literary translation from aesthetic and cultural perspectives. The study limits its scope into a literary Arabic work "Dhakirat Aljassad" one of Ahlam Mostaghanemi's creative works and its two English versions "Memory in The Flesh" by Baria Sreih and "The Bridges of Constantine" by Raphael Cohen. To discover whether or not aesthetic and culture elements of the original author are maintained when translated into English is the overall aim of this study. The two English translations are also used as a sample analysis of the translation procedures adopted to do d tackle both aesthetic and cultural effect. To this end, the Arabic novel and its English translatio are compared and analysed in terms of lexical choice, sentence structure, and the use of literary devices namely metaphors and similes. Besides, the focus was put on the transfer of culture-specific references practiced by the translators. The analysis reveals the procedures followed by Both translators in the process of translating the novel, such as literal translation, and the free translation including: omission, addition, reduction, expansion and avoiding repetition affect the two target texts' sense, form and effect. After reviewing the examples we see that the novel is originally highly aesthetical, it almost lost its beauty once translated literally. However, from the cultural perspective we noticed that free translation leads to the loss of the cultural elements found in the source text, so it is more likely to literally translate or transliterate them in the purpose of respecting the otherness of the source text's culture.en_US
