This study sought to explore the pupils’ and parents’ attitudes towards the implementation of English in primary schools in Algeria, as well as the influence of these attitudes on pupils’ motivation and achievements. To reach these objectives, two instruments were designed: a questionnaire for parents and a semi-structured interview with EFL teachers of primary schools in Tlemcen. The results obtained from analysing and interpreting the collected data revealed that most parents and pupils have positive attitudes towards the introduction of English in primary schools. The majority of parents link their positive attitudes to the status of English in the world as a global language and the advantages that it may offer to their children for a better future. Further, the support of parents and good quality of education, including teacher education and training, materials, environment, and awareness of language importance have also an impact on pupils’ motivation, learning outcomes and future achievements.en_US
