Résumé: | PDLC composite materials (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals), consist of a dispersion of micro or nano-droplets of liquid crystal in a polymer matrix. These composites are of considerable interest for their many applications such as opacity-controlled glazing, visual displays and temperature maps in medicine. In this work, these systems are developed form the method of phase separation induced by polymerization (PIPS) under UV radiation. Initial mixtures composed of the monomer ethylene glycol phenyl ether methacrylate monomer (EGPEM) and 5CB nematic liquid crystal, in the presence of photoinitiator Darocur 1173 at different concentrations. The characterization by the techniques of infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), the oscilloscope and the MOP, made it possible to verify and confirm that the best electro-optical response and the right PDLC material is obtained for the composites EGPEM/5CB/PPGDA900 in the presence of 2.5% in photoinitiator. |
