Abstract
This research endeavor aims to examine the sociolinguistic
dimensions underlying code-switching in the bilingual and multilingual
Algerian communities, with a specific focus on German language students at
the IISC Institute. The study seeks to elucidate the impact of the presence of
diverse language varieties on students’ academic and everyday conversations.
To gather the necessary data, the research utilizes questionnaires, note-taking,
and limited observations, supplemented by and graphs for supporting
evidence. The findings reveal that students engage in code-switching based
on situational factors.
