Abstract
Water pollution from industrial waste water is a serious problem in many countries. To reduce the harmful effects of these pollutants, several methods for wastewater treatment are implemented, in particular, the technique of adsorption. This study aims to use a new adsorbent natural based Cératonia siliqua L in the adsorption process for treating of methyl violet 2B which is a cationic dye. The comparative etude was performed on actif charbon. The adsorbents were previously characterized. The adsorption tests was found that the adsorption capacity is influenced by various parameters related to the system adsorbat/ adsorbent. The overall results showed that the adsorption kinetics of the dye on the materials is well described by the second order model. The adsorption isotherm of the adsorbent/adsorbate systems studied is described satisfactorily by the mathematical models of Freundlich and Temkin with the raw carob.Langmuir model is the best model used to describe the adsorption by the carbonize adsorbant and the Temkinmodel for the charcoal activated. Furthermore, the thermodynamic study revealed that the adsorption is spontaneous and exothermic.
