Abstract
In a global context of diversification of the use of natural resources, recourse to
renewable energies and in particular solar photovoltaic is made more and more. As such, the
development of a new generation of CuInSe2-based photovoltaic cells seems promising. This
thesis focuses on CuInS2, which belongs to the family of ternary compounds in the
chalcopyrite form. In the photovoltaic field, the most recent studies have been mostly devoted
to thin films, due to their great prospects in the sector of photovoltaic modules with large
surfaces. Its crystalline structure, its optical and electrical properties as well as the intrinsic
and extrinsic defects encountered in this material make it a promising material for scientific
research. SCAPS-1D software was used in this study to model a CIS-based solar cell while
optimizing its electrical characteristics, in particular the efficiency of the solar device.
