The present thesis tackles the issue of identity construction in the learning environment; notably, it investigates the impact of English language on Algerian EFL learners’ cultural identity, with a particular attention to the informal learning setting and activities that are mainly done in the target language. It is worth mentioning that any language carries a specific linguistic patterns and cultural items; hence, learning new languages means adopting new cultural identities. In this sense, the current research explores the relationship between identity reconstruction and the learning environment. This investigation aims also to shed light on the Algerian English users’ linguistic and cultural behaviours.en_US
