Résumé: | The interest of this work is to study the corrosion resistance of XC38 steel in the 0.5 M sulfuric acid medium and its protection by the corrosion inhibitor povidone iodine, by the gravimetric method. Several parameters were studied such as concentration, temperature and time. The optimum concentration is 30 mg/L of PVPI at a temperature of 20° C for a period of 2 hours and the efficiency is 81.75 %. The thermodynamic activation parameters showed a physisorption trend as well as an endothermic process. The Langmuir isotherm showed an exothermic nature of adsorption of PVPI to the steel surface, and ∆Gads indicated the spontaneity of the process, which is physical in nature. An experimental design has been developed to determine the efficacy of the PVPI inhibitor in tests not performed. |
