The intestinal microbiota is potentially involved in the development of colorectal carcinoma by different mechanisms. We have shown through this research the existence of a link between the bacterial secretome and colorectal cancer, proven by studies which have shown that among these bacteria of the microbiota Escherichia coli has the capacity to synthesize a genotoxin called colibactin which can damage DNA and is a major factor in the development of colorectal cancers.
